What are the main components of Vibratory feeders?
The main components in a vibratory feeder are the hopper, the tray, and the drive unit. Vibratory feeders use vibration and gravity to move material. The vibratory Feeder consists of a tray, commonly called the feed tray that moves rapidly back and forth to feed and weigh material into a process. As the tray vibrates, each particle is thrown up and forward from one point to another point down the tray. Gravity determines the direction and then vibration is used to move the material.

What are vibratory feeders used for?
The Vibratory feeders provide excellent gravimetric and volumetric feeding of abrasives, friables, fiberglass, and free flowing bulk materials. This type of feeder is especially well suited for abrasive products. The Vibratory Feeder features the feed tray, which promotes mass flow by shearing the entire cross sectional outlet of the hopper. This mass flow function, working in unison with the hopper, provides a true mass flow feeding system. The system operates on a mass flow basis, without the following moving parts:  screw, end-bearing, sprockets, bearings, bushings, DC drive and the replacement of motor brushes.

The process of Vibratory feeders:
First, material is discharged from the supply hopper onto the tray. The drive unit creates vibration. As the tray vibrates, material is vibrated up and forward from one point on the tray and drop down at a point farther along the tray. The amplitude is the distance the drive unit moves back and forth in the vibratory feeder. The angle of deflection is how high the material is thrown compared with their forward movement. The vibratory feeder’s frequency is the number of times per minute this action is repeated. In loss-in-weight feeding, the drive unit is linked to a controller that increases or decreases the tray amplitude to control the feed rate.
